YOUNG PERFORMERS BENEFIT CONCERT SUNDAY MAY 3, 2026

AIDAN ROBINSON

(Age 21)  A Senior Computer Science student at UCLA, has a diverse range of talents and accomplishments. He began piano lessons with Ms. Sharon at the age of three and has earned the prestigious Certificate of Merit Level 10. 


In high school, he not only showcased his athletic abilities as a varsity tennis player but also demonstrated his musical skills and knowledge as the jazz band's rhythm section leader. 


While in high school, Aidan’s piano accomplishments include

 the Southern Bach Competition Branch winner, Certificate of Merit Honors, 

and performing at Carnegie Hall, placing 3rd in the American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music. 


After graduating from high school, Aidan attended UCLA, majoring in Computer Science. Aidan will complete his degree in May and then take on the role of Software Engineer at LinkedIn in New York City. 


In addition to his professional pursuits, he aims to continue performing and writing music within the local New York music scene.

 Isabella Barlis is 16 years old and recently finished the advanced level of the Piano Certificate of Merit with State Honors. She has been a part of the Piano Play family for about 12 years and studied privately with Nicole Nale. In addition to piano, she is an advanced violinist and dancer. She has been a part of the Piano Play family for about 12 years and studied privately with Nicole Nale. In addition to piano, she is an advanced violinist and dancer. Our team of experienced piano teachers have a passion for teaching music and have over 10 years of experience in the industry. We offer personalized lessons to help you achieve your musical goals.

 Tristan Gaertner began group lessons at Piano Play at age 4 and soon moved to private lessons

with Mr. Greg. While he loves classical music, he's recently started exploring other genres. Despite

his interest in various activities, the piano remains his top priority.

 Has been a passionate student of Piano Play for 13 years under

Ms. Nicole. At just 15, he earned the Certificate of Merit and has consistently excelled in piano competitions, winning a district title 

and being a regional

finalist in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival for 9 years.

He performed at Carnegie Hall and at Queens

(AGE 17)

 Has been a passionate student of Piano Play for 13 years under

Ms. Nicole. At just 15, he earned the Certificate of Merit and has consistently excelled in piano competitions, winning a district title 

and being a regional

finalist in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival for 9 years.

He performed at Carnegie Hall and at Queens College with his middle 

school choir and has directed the school’s Musical Improv show for

4 years. In high school, Maxx directed productions like *Murder on the Orient Express* and *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and now plays piano and sings in the Marianist Band. Recently,  he enhanced his musical journey by completing the Aspire program at 

Berklee College of Music.

(AGE 17) 

 Has been attending Piano Play classes since he was four

years old, beginning with our group classes. 

He later transitioned to private 

lessons. Now, at 16, after twelve years of musical training, he has blossomed

into a passionate performer who enjoys music ranging from 

Baroque to his 

latest passion, Jazz. Under the guidance of Ms.

(AGE 17) 

 Has been attending Piano Play classes since he was four

years old, beginning with our group classes. 

He later transitioned to private 

lessons. Now, at 16, after twelve years of musical training, he has blossomed

into a passionate performer who enjoys music ranging from 

Baroque to his 

latest passion, Jazz. Under the guidance of Ms. Sharon, 

he has participated 

in the Certificate of Merit and Certified SFEV Juries programs, earning him honors. He is currently preparing songs to compete in two upcoming local and national competitions. 

Ben has another passion: soccer. Starting at a young age, he has not only become an accomplished player but has also led Cleveland High School's soccer team to this year’s state championship.

 At 17 years of age, has been engaged in musical studies under  

the guidance of Nicole Nale and Piano Play since the age of four. Currently, she is a junior at 

Agoura High School and was recognized as a finalist in 

“Essentially Ellington's Jazz” competition at Lincoln Center. 

Furthermore, she has performed as a bassoonist with the

 At 17 years of age, has been engaged in musical studies under  

the guidance of Nicole Nale and Piano Play since the age of four. Currently, she is a junior at 

Agoura High School and was recognized as a finalist in 

“Essentially Ellington's Jazz” competition at Lincoln Center. 

Furthermore, she has performed as a bassoonist with the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Wind Ensemble and currently serves as the principal 

bassoonist for the 

Colburn Youth Orchestra.

In addition to her piano studies, Maya is an avid martial artist, a member of the high school track team, and serves as a school ambassador. She is enthusiastic about continuing to grow both as a musician and a performer.

In addition to playing the piano, Kai is a cellist in his school orchestra and serves as the pianist for the school jazz band. In his free time, he enjoys creating music using Logic Pro. He is also the co-captain of his school's varsity team and runs an online resale business.

ALLA ARUTYUNYAN

Alla Arutyunyan was born in Armenia and started playing the piano at the age of five. She earned a degree in theory and performance in Armenia and continued her studies in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music from California State University, Northridge. She is also a member of the Music Teachers Association of California. Her passion for music and children led her to start teaching in 1987. She incorporates new and innovative ideas and methods in her teaching to enhance her students' musical experience. Alla emphasizes the importance of ear training, sight-reading, theory, and technique. She values each student’s innate talents and differences, creating an atmosphere for growth, development, and success.

NICOLE NALE

 Nicole Nale is a classically trained pianist and former student of Piano Play, studying

under CEO Sharon Shaheed. She earned her BFA in Instrumental Studies/Piano

Performance and a minor in Biology at Loyola Marymount University under Dr. Tania

Fleischer. Nicole completed the Certificate of Merit program in high school and

began her teaching career while pursuing her degree. She now teaches group and

private lessons at Piano Play and serves as President of the Music Teachers’

Association of California, San Fernando East Valley Branch. Nicole specializes

in sight reading, theory, performance, and ensemble coaching, inspiring students to

develop a lifelong love of music.

GREG RAYMOND

 Greg Raymond, a graduate of Boston College, is a renowned jazz pianist who

has collaborated with Citizen Cope, Charlie Hunter, Chali 2na, Stanton Moore,

Ani DiFranco, and others. After moving from Denver to Los Angeles, he has dedicated

his career to teaching, working with students as young as two years old through group

classes and solfege methods. Greg teaches over 40 private students weekly

and is highly experienced in all levels of the Certificate of Merit program. He joined

the Music Teachers’ Association of California in 2011 and has maintained a high success

rate with CM students. Greg inspires students of all ages with his professional

performance background and passion for music education.

SHARON SHAHEED, MM

  Sharon Shaheed is the CEO and founder of Piano Play Music Systems and the winner

of VSEDC’s 2025 HerStory: A Women’s History Month Pitch Competition. She holds a

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a minor in voice from Xavier University and

a Master’s in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Southeastern University. Sharon

developed Piano Play’s original theory-based curriculum, authoring 22 classroom books

and song CDs used in weekly lessons. She is an active member of the Music Teachers’

Association of California and serves as the Certificate of Merit Chair for the San

Fernando East Valley Branch. Her work has been featured on Oprah & Friends radio,

OWN’s Raising Whitley, and she is a past winner of the Stevie® Award for

Best Entrepreneurs.
